What he did
- Bedford Avenue
After a three-year-old was struck in the protected bike lane and Williamsburg parents asked the city to move it, Council Member Restler filed a court affidavit to keep it in place. City Hall's response: he "turned his back on the very people he was elected to represent."

- McGuinness Boulevard
He led the push to cut McGuinness to one lane each way over the objections of hundreds of Greenpoint neighbors and the businesses that employ them, who rallied against it in September 2023 with signs bearing his name.

- Your parking, your notice
On December 19, 2024 he voted against requiring the city to tell you when parking spaces are removed and against making DOT consult the Fire Department before approving bike lanes. He has introduced a bill to tow cars for alternate-side parking violations.

The petition
To Council Member Lincoln Restler:
We are residents of the 33rd Council District. We are not against safe streets. We are against being ignored. We call on you to:
- Tell the Mamdani administration not to reinstall the protected bike lane on the blocks of Bedford Avenue where children have been hurt, and to work with Williamsburg parents on an alternative route.
- Support giving residents and community boards advance notice before parking is removed or a bike-lane project is approved, and reverse your December 2024 votes against those requirements.
- Withdraw Int. 627-2026, your bill to tow cars for alternate-side parking violations.
- Hold open town halls in Greenpoint and South Williamsburg before any further street redesign is built, and publish who you met with before you decided.
Put the people who live here ahead of the bike lobby. We will be watching how you vote.
